Vaishnavi Upadhyay (b. 2001, India) is a Los Angeles–based film editor and assistant editor whose work moves at the intersection of intimacy and structure. Trained at the AFI Conservatory as an Editing Fellow, they approach their craft as an act of care, assembling images into vessels of memory and connection.

Their portfolio spans narrative shorts that have screened at Oscar-qualifying festivals, as well as fashion campaigns, branded work, and music visuals for artists under 88Rising and Warner Records.

Vaish’s cuts are less about spectacle than about trust: making space for performances to resonate, for overlooked details to surface, and for collective voices to cohere. As a queer South Asian filmmaker, they gravitate towards stories that hold space for underrepresented perspectives, treating the edit as both confessional and connective—a diary of gestures, textures, and temporal shifts.
